Baking Tins Empire
I have not eaten home made bread for a while now but this is a memory I still retain from childhood. My mother used to bake bread in bread baking tins that were the perfect size to create a nice home-made loaf. Some of her other specialties were making cakes and fruit loafs. Carrot cake and banana cake were two of her popular recipes. There was also another cake she used to prepare that had a load of sultanas in it but I have forgotten the name. As far as I can recall, these fruit loafs were actually made in the same size baking tin as her bread.
Of course these were not the only baking tins she kept in the kitchen cupboards. There were many different sizes for some of the cakes she used to make too.
These days it seems that there is less time to do home baking. With all the distractions of the modern world and the multitude of breads, cakes and buns that can be purchased in supermarkets it is no wonder that many people seem to have given up baking at home, my mother included.
This is a shame and can be easily rectified. With an oven to bake cakes and bread in, all that is required are some appropriately sized baking trays and tins as well as a cook book or two. These are used to look up recipes. Simply browsing through a cake recipe book to find something that catches your fancy and then buying the appropriate ingredients, along with the other necessary equipment means we can turn the world into a Baking Tins Empire!
